FAQ's-frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Chiropractic and Physiotherapy?
There are fundamenta differences between these two professions. Firstly basic training is different. Chiropractors train for 6 years as independant Specialist in musculoskeletal problems, and uses Chiropractic manipulation and techniques to diagnose and address the subluxations in the spine which are responsible for the development of pain conditions. Physiotherapists in Malaysia do a 3 year diploma, and are reliant on diagnosis and referral from Medical Doctors and Specialists in order to provide a prescriibed rehabilitation protocol. They specialise in rehabilitation following injury or surgery, and follow a disease model. They provide an important part in the healthcare system, assisting patients to rehabilitate after interventional procedures.
My GP and Orthopedic discourages me from seeing a Chiropractor because they say that I can be paralysed or my neck can be broken, is this true?. This couldnt be further from the truth. Unfortunately ignorance in the medical field breeds a fear mentality. Manipulation performed by a qualified Chiropractor is thousands of times safer than taking a pain killer, anti-inflammatory and receiving surgery. There is not one documented case of a patient's neck being broken, this is simply not possible, and a case of watching too many Rambo movies. Would you rather receive handfuls of drugs, surgery and or injection or a simple, safe and effective Chiropractic adjustment?
Are adjustments painful? In most cases, adjustments are not painful and give great relief. Sometimes there can be an ache in the area adjusted, due to the fact that the joints are being moved correctly often for the first time in a long time, and this is the bodies response to the new found movement.
Can Chiropractic help children? Most definitely. We believe many of the degernative changes in the body occur as a result of trauma and falls during the childhood years, therefore maintenance adjustments help ensure your child grows with the correct spinal alignment.
How long do doctors of Chiropractic study for?
Chiropractors study for 6 years doing a master's degree to ensure the highest level of care that you can possibly receive.
